Birth Year of 1833 approximated from age 27 reported on 1860 Census of
Lagrange, Penobscot County, Maine. 1860 Census of LaGrange, Penobscot County,
Maine, taken on June 8, 1860, shows wife, Mahala as age 23, and lists
occupation of Samuel C. Bryer as that of Farmer with a birthplace of Maine.

1860 Census also shows in the same household one Simeon Bryer, Male, age 64, a
retired farmer with a birthplace of New Hampshire.  His presence in the home of
Samuel leads me to believe he is the father of Samuel.  I should be able to
check the 1850 census to confirm this.

Simeon Bryer, as reported in the "History of Penobscot County, Maine,
with Illustrations and Biographical Sketches" page 400, published in 1882 in
Cleveland by Williams, Chase & CO., was among the earliest settlers of
LaGrange. "Mr. Bryer located in 1824, upon Lot No. 1, in the first range of
lots adjoining Kilmarnock, now Medford".
