                   In his youth Dominic helped survey the area that was to signify the southern
border of the state of Michigan.  After he married Margaret LaPointe he bought
a tract of wooded land for $2.50 per acre, cleared ait and built a house.
Dominic and Margaret had eleven children, three of whom fought in the civil
War.  They were Gideon, DominicII and Eli.  Another son, Sam, moved to Upper
Michigan.  Daughters Margaret married Dan Leonrd, Josephine married Touissant
Benoit, Monica (Fanny) married Eli Cousino and Isabelle married Ducklu.
