                   Immigrated to America aboard the British Princess leaving from Liverpool England. The ship docked in Philadelphia. He was joined by his brother Arnt and Father Anton.

They lived in a house nearby Oslo called Ekeberg (Nedre Voldgade No. 21)

Upon arriving in MN Hans stayed with uncle and aunt near New Richland.

He later went to be with his Father and got a job on the stamboat "The City of St. Louis"

Moved with Family to Hayward Wisconsi, then to West Duluth around the 1890's. Married sometine around 1890.

In 1890 I made my first trip to North Dakota to the harvest Fields

   In 1891 went with Partner John Thorsby to the north end of St. Louis county to take up a preemption claim.  - Hans spent 7 years going back and forth to the claim "squatting". The claim was 60 miles past Tower, MN
