Benoni STEMEN
Benoni Stemen, who resides near Canal Winchester, in Fairfield Co., Ohio, is a farmer, and a successful one; he is a dealer in fine stock, such as blooded horses, cattle, and sheep. Ben, as he is familiarly known, is always cheerful and is what they call a "good liver." He takes special delight in having good things to eat, he has a good home and a pleasant family. He and his wife are members of the Mennonite Church, he takes some interest in politics, and is always ready to take his side of the question; he is very candid in his statements and conscientious in whatever he does; but very determined and uncompromising with anything that appears to him to be wrong, and while he is tenderly devoted to his friends, yet he would rather sacrifice friendship then to do what he believed to be wrong.
