Old William Rush is yet living and is right smart.I was to see him when I was down which was about the 20th of Augustlast. I have no account from there since the people were right sickly atthat time. We made a fine crop of small grain in our neighborhood thisyear. Our summer crop is terrible good. I sold my house and lot inMcGaheysville with the expectation of moving to the Ohio and there was apiece of land to sell in this county by lot. Mauzy, Executor of JacobBares' estate. The tract contained 145 acres and I gave $120 for itthinking I could not better myself by going farther, it is a very healthypart of the world and what is better than health? It lies on a verypublic road and the land is good for any kind of grain and lies in a veryagreeable neighborhood and good for my trade. Letters: The distance from McGaheysville to where I now live is about 150miles. Right on the west of this county was once part of Greene, it joinsBattleboro, Allegeny, and Giles counties, there is five watering mineralsprings the farthest not more than 40 miles to the west and in the west 9miles there is the sweet white sulphur, sweet sulphur, salt sulphur, andred sulphur springs.
