She did have to be in a Care Center the last year of her life but was awake & alert until the last 6 weeks when she had a stroke & while she knew what was going on she could no longer talk. 4'11 -- if she stretched Naturally curly hair that was almost kinky. HOBBIES: She loved to travel - & did a "GRAND TOUR" of the west before she & grandpa married. I have her note book from the trip. Because of Grandpa's job they did not get to travel as much as she wanted to. They did get to the Rose Parade in Pasadena. Grandma kept a daily journal. It was mainly of weather & what she did that day. She mentioned Grandpa, mother & Uncle Pete & family friends but seldom her mother (Until the last 6 months when she was total care & a handful) who lived with them X Grandma met Grandpa at a friend's house (Stella & Mary Mason) just once before he went back to Idaho to work for the Forrest Service. She wrote to him & never saw him again until he returned to Michigan to marry her. They then went back to ID & the "Sunbeam farm" in Oakley, ID. The family decided that those must have been some letters One never left the other without a kiss first. When they had their 50th Anniversary the Mason sisters came to Idaho Falls - neither had ever married. Other than her parents they were the only ones at the Wedding. I wore Grandma's Wedding Dress at the Reception. x Opal was known as the "Inspector General". She always arrived wearing a hat & White Gloves which she used to check for dust. Grandpa usually ended up carrying her purse for her as she flitted here & there on her "inspection". X The Ball family of New Castle (Ball Jars) made her a glass cane as a thank you for teaching their children. This cane is in the possession of Mary Julia Peters Boice.
FAMILY RECORDS OF L F SPRINGER DOCUMENTATION: Picture. Was originally buried at th Cadiz Cemetary. When Grandpa & Grandma moved to Manistee, MI, Grandma insisted that Paul was also moved -- so he is buried there -- who knows which Cemetery. *** 12-90 after reading the book, Mother called to say that when Grandpa & Grandma Harrell were going to move to Manistee, MI that Grandma refused to move unless Paul's body was moved with them. The Casket was exhumed. Grandma Harrell was never told that the body was GONE So the Casket was reburied in Manistee, MI. Nobody ever found out what happened to the body. HEALTH: Grandma Peters said that Paul Died of Diabetes. However, -- in looking at his picture -- he had "other" problems so I question the DX of Diabetes. NOTE: Birth listed in Henry Co. IN but his name is given as Audrey????? CSS2-63 this was probably his name but he was called Paul.
