Early members of the family had settled in the Clifford area, thenmoved to Pilkington, and in the early 1890's, Thomas moved to the easthalf of Lot 13. Approximately 50 acres were cleared and there was a loghouse and barn on it. In 1899, a bank barn was built and in 1904 atwo-story house was built. Tom did the butchering for the Beef Ring on the 4th and 6th lines.He butchered every Monday night and the meat was picked up the next day.In 1923 a tornado blew down the windmill and took some shingles off thehouse. Tom bought a 1915 Model T Ford and in 1929 a model A for about$900. In 1930 he paid $1000 for a tractor and three furrow plough. Inthe late 1930's, hogs were $2.90 cwt. and cattle $3.60 cwt.
