Lewis. The enrollment being for a service of three months. (Enlisted 24 April 1861. Mustered out on 6 Aug 1861) This information has been verified by Colette thru his enlistment/penchantAccording to info gathered from 1880 CD ROM US Census index by professional genealogist, Judith Wight, in 1880 he was a paper and rag dealer in Philadelphia PA.There is the same history of moving the body several times. His final Gravesite was at Westminster Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd with the rest of the family. Location of the grave site is #1 lot 98 , Highland Section. His Death Certificate states he was born a year later on the 24 June 1940. He died He was 72 1/2 when he died. The certificate gives his cause of death as General Arterio Sclerosis. Chronic Interstial Nephritis was given as secondaary condition causing death. Their address was 139 Rochelle Ave. His wife was listed as Mrs. Josiah Linton (Katherine S. Heft.) Katherine and Josiah were married in the Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. He was 23 and she 20 years old.There is an other certificate which states he was 66 years, 6 months and 27 days at death and is buried at grave # 4 Lot 114 Merion Section of Westminster Cemetery. In the family monthly newsletter dated October 2003, Colette Linton McCullough writes: Josiah enlisted in the 18thPennsylvania Regiment (CJivil War), under Colonel W. T. Lewis, the enrollment being for a service of three months. On the expiration of his service he returned to Philadelphia and was employed by the government for three years at the Schuykill Arsenal (aresenal made military clothing). Josiah married K(C)atherine Heft in the Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia in 1863. In the 1880 census, Josiah is listed as living with his wife and her parents. He was 39 yers old and occupation listed as "paper and rag - dealer." They had one son, Jacob D.H. Linton one year old. Catherine's father (and head of household) was listed as Jacob D. Heft, 54 ocupation: C&W Manufacturere and Dyer. Later the 1910 Philadelphia Census lists their children as "Dr. Jay DL, 30 yrs and Horace, 27 years. His Death Certificate states cause of death as General Arterieo Sclerosis. Address at the time of death was 139 Rochelle Ave. Samuel Linton made two trips to Philadelphia to see his family and try to interest them in the Church. He said they were too prejudiced and would not hear it. Their temple work was done after their deaths.
