    A great rift occured between Lou and her daughter Jean.  Lou then did family things with Alex's extended family.
    When her cousin Alexander Braidwood died, she offered his widow to come to live with her rather than be lonely.  Jean Braidwood declined and went to livewith her daughter, Nan.
