Lorne was a mechanical engineer. He met Nan at U.of T. as she was studying to be a dental nurse. Lorne was a member of the U. of T. rowing team. Sitting across the University cafe Lorne spied the lovely Nan Braidwood amongst a group of dental nurses and announced to his friend that that was the girl he was going to marry. Nan was popular in drama and tennis and her Sorority while on campus. They were married at Knox College Chapel, U.of T. , a tradition set for both of their children. World War II broke out and for the next five years Nan and Lorne were together by correspondence. While Lorne was overseas Nan returned to live with her parents, continuing her career as a Dental Nurse. After the war they lived in London, England where Lorne was the Assistant Trade Commissioner for Ontario. Lorne tried his hand with his own lumber company - Kendall/ Baker in Lorne Park, but then returned to work for General Electric as he had prior to the war. Lorne worked many years for General Electric and represented them in Poona, India from 1962 until 1965, taking his family with him.
Lorne was 5'10", stocky build, a hard worker and a "Mr. Fix It". His focus on life was his family and keeping Nan happy. He enjoyed hockey and football and always supported the Leafs and the Argonauts.
