He was never good with handling finances though.  When he proposed to Maud
Harris, she was aware of this trait and told Fred I. that she wouldn't marry
him unless he could show her a savings account of $2,000.  Fred I. borrowed the
money and opened an account and took the pass book to Maud. They married...
