Alec stood 6'2" and his exact weight was somewhere between 150-160lbs. It seldom varied so that you could test scales by his weight. He left Scotland to find a career in Canada with his bride, Jean. He was a lithographer and a geographical draghtsman for the Federal Government. He drew maps using a brush with one hair. Alec was a whiz with numbers and could add five columns of figures simultaniously. He was involved with the Masonic Order and had a wide-spread knowledge of the world through his hobby as a falatelist. On black and white television there was a regular programme called, "College Bowl" inwhich students competed in a quiz covering several categories. He was frequently able to answer the questions correctly, even before the competitors. Alec travelled to work on the buses with a German chap. Each day they would alternate which language they would speak in so that they each would learn the other's language.
