                   RESEARCH NOTE:
    James Askew of Surry County, North Carolina, first appeared in the records of Surry County in 1792, and by the year 1804 he had disappeared from the records of Surry County. This was about the same time that the ancestral James Askew appeared in South Carolina. He probably migrated to Surry County from across the border in Virginia, but this will have to be proven - May 2008.
