Historical information included in notes. Thomas 2 Tupper was born, lived and died in Sandwich, Mass.. He became a large landowner there. In his will dated April 22 1706, he meticulously provided for each of his children. He lies buried under a stone still standinf (1937) by thepond in the beautiful burying ground in Sandwich. Note: After his father's death, Thomas 2 took over the missionary work with the Indians, and through his efforts a meeting house for "praying Indians" was built in 1688. This building stood until 1757, and in it Thomas's 2, son, Eldad 3, wasordained andpreached, and so did Eldad's 3 son, Elisha 4. Note: In the museum at Plymouth, Mass., there is preserved a list of the 64 Indian heads of families who attended the March 28, 1693, "preaching service of Thomas Tupper, Indian missionary, at Sandwich, Mass." In his later years Thomas 2 Tupperwas called Captain Tupper, which title was earned by him from being a Captain in the Sandwich Militia.
He married Martha Mayhew 27 Dec 1661 at Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts . Martha Mayhew was born at Watertown, Middlesex, Massachusetts 1638 daughter of Thomas (Governor) Mayhew and Jane Gallion .
