Charles Thomas THORP

                       Bill was tall and slender, an industrious farmer and carpenter. He also worked at the Meyer Milk Plant in Valley Falls and the W.A.L. Thompson Hardware in Topeka. Cora graduated from Nortonville High School with the class of 1927 after which she worked at Leavenworth. They lived six miles north east of Valley Falls, Kansas. In 1943 when Bill retired, they moved into town. They lived at 507 Linn Street, Valley Falls, over 50 years, until his death. He had a great sense of humor. He was pals with my father, Harry and worked for him farming when he was young. He usually wore overalls.
                  

                       Lillian died of typhoid fever. She and Bill were twins.
                  

                       About 1963 Earl was the driver in an accident near Sedalia, Missouri. His wife was in the Bothwell Memoria hospital with chest injuries. He retired from the Missouri-Pacific Railroad. He lived at Winchester, but lived the last seven years at Valley Falls, Kansas. At times he lived with his mother and his sister, Mildred. The Pastor of the Valley Falls Christian Church officiated at his services.
                  

                       I have always known her as Mildred, however, I was told that she had her name changed in August 1970, to Velma Pearl. Her husband was called John. They lived at Valley Falls, Kansas. He was employed by the Jefferson County highway department until he retired in 1962. They belong to the Baptist Church. John died in a nursing home after an extended illness. In 1969, sons Marron and Richard were in Vietnam; Ernest lived at Topeka; Edward, at Norton; and Robert at Lawrence. The girls were married.
                  

                       Alvin was a farmer. He was inducted into the Seabees at Ft. Leavenworth in June 1942 and trained at Norfolk, Virginia. In 1944, from a camp in Alabama, he was sent to the Philippines. He was 32 years old at that time. Later he lived at Leavenworth and worked as a heavy equipment operator for Leavenworth city street department. He died of cancer, and is buried in the National Cemetery at Fort Leavenworth. There may have been children, William W. and Geraldine.
