                   Was a sailor. He married Elizabeth Whitney 26 Jun 1735 at Norwalk, Connecticut.
Had 8 children. During a heavy gale he went to look after
the safety of his vessel at Peck's slip.  By a misstep he fell overboard and
drowned.  He died intestate, and his brother Joseph administered the estate.
He lived in Newark.  After his death, his wife married David Rockwell in 1759.

leading man in business affairs in his neighborhood.  He was one of the
committee of safety for county of Essex at opening of the Revolutionary War.
Was prominent in the church. He moved to N.Y. Nov 1783, did not stay long.  His
will was dated 31 Jan 1798 and proved 29 Aug 1798.
