Joseph RIGGS
Died at age 69. There is a tradition that he was an active member of the first church organized at Orange, N>J., which was then called "The Mountain Society."
Had 7 children, Josiah, Joseph, Miles, Stephen, Sarah, Polly, Prudence.
Was a sailor. He married Elizabeth Whitney 26 Jun 1735 at Norwalk, Connecticut. Had 8 children. During a heavy gale he went to look after the safety of his vessel at Peck's slip. By a misstep he fell overboard and drowned. He died intestate, and his brother Joseph administered the estate. He lived in Newark. After his death, his wife married David Rockwell in 1759.

Was married to Rebecca Hand of East Hampton L.I. 21 Dec 1742. He moved to Morristown 1746-47. His wife died there 25 Jan 1786 age 73. He was very active member of Presbyterian Church.
He married Elizabeth. Inherited land in Mendham and settled as a farmer. He was attached to the Presbyterian Church at Mendham. Died at age 57.
Married Abigail about 1745. Had good business education. Was magistrate and leading man in business affairs in his neighborhood. He was one of the committee of safety for county of Essex at opening of the Revolutionary War. Was prominent in the church. He moved to N.Y. Nov 1783, did not stay long. His will was dated 31 Jan 1798 and proved 29 Aug 1798.
Married Sarah Lamson, 23 Nov 1748, who died 24 Sep 1776. Married second Rhoda Condict who survived him. Was active in the Presbyterian church at Orange, NJ.
