Notes:
Buried at Forest Hill Cemetery; Edward was also called "Edwin".

Obit. and picture in Duluth News Tribune, Friday, 30 August 1907:

TWO PIONEERS RESPOND TO DEATH ANGEL'S CALL
The fact that life's tenure is short and they have reached the point in life when it is down hill, was brought home to the pioneers of the city yesterday at their picnic when they missed two faces that all had expected to see. The plans made by two of the oldest settlers of Duluth to attend the gathering yesterday at Lester Park, were overturned by death.
Edward Postal, 75 years old, died yesterday morning, and Mrs. Nancy McLaughlin, 63 years old, was called late Wednesday night. They have both been residents of this city for the past quarter of a century and are well known.
Mr. Postal came to Superior in 1850, before there was any Duluth and remained in that city until the first houses were built here. After Duluth had been started he came across the bay and his son Will was the first white child born in this city. Will died several years ago. Mr. Postal was a timber cruiser, but a few years ago he retired from active work and has since made his home with his daughter, Mrs. F.M. Krelwitz, 1820 East Seventh Street. He leaves three daughters, Mrs. F.M. Krelwitz, Mrs. E. Wakefield and Mrs. J. H. Tomlin and one son, R.D. Postal. A brother Robert Postal, lives at Duluth Heights. The funeral will be held today from the residence of Mrs. Krelwitz, 1820 East Seventh Street. Interment at Forest Hill.

Edward (Edwin) Postal had initiatory work done in the Arizona Temple, Mesa, Arizona on 14 Jul 1998.

Two of Edward's children drown. Edward was working at the dam at Alder Lake. The older son and his friend wanted to go down town to a dance at Island Lake. He was also watching a younger brother. He had asked his father earlier if he could take the canoe down to town. The fahter said no that the river was too high and rough right now.
The boys decided they could handle things. Inspite of the father's warnings theey took the dad's birch bark canoe and set out. They overturned in the rapids. The older son and his friend got to shore and noticed the younger brother was no where to be found. He jumped back into the river to look for him and also drowned. This is why my father felt his father was so hyper cautious around and on water and was always mentioning water safety to his family.
