FamilyRec.
Family record of Samuel h. Smith of the Ozarks, pg.19. Parsons came to Mt. View Mo. with, or to visit his brother William B. Alldredge and family. He met and married Aretta. In Mountain View they lived on a farm, which is known as the Joel rushing Place, where their child Isaac was aborn. Parsons and his brother William B. and their families moved to Perry Co. Illinois where Parsons had lived when a child. In Illinois their younger brother Isaac, then about 19 yrs of age ,who had been reared by their uncle John Grown in Utah, stopped to visit them. He was enroute to England where he was to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He talked with Parsons and William, told them of the Territory of Utah, it's opportunities, climate and advantages. He also explained to them the doctrines of the Church he represented, it was sometime after his departure Parsons and William and their wives discussed very earnestly the message Isaac had brought them. They finally decided to go west to Utah. Into wagons they loaded their belongings and went to Council Bluffs Iowa, thinking perhaps they may join a covered wagon caravan going to the west. Upon their arrival at Council Bluffs, they found that there were no companies leaving for some time. They met another man Jesse Ballinger, and his family there, who was interested in making the trek west, and so the three families, each in their own wagon, began the long journey westward, of over a thousand miles. Many harrowing experiences were had by these young adventurous, fearless and sturdy pioneers. They arrived in Utah in 1867. going directly to Pleasant Grove Utah, the home of their Uncle John Brown.
