John ABERCROMBIE

"The Abercrombies probably moved to Georgia along with the Cavenders.  John and his family were enumerated in the 1820 census of Hall County.  The 1850 Census of Lumpkin Co, New District, household no. 20 gives John Abercrombie, 55, born in South Carolina; wife, Fanny, 54, born North Carolina; children all born in Georgia: Young, 18; Washington, 15; Joseph, 12; Fanny, 4; Andrew, 4.  According to records John Abercrombie was the son of James and Ann, or Mary Ann Abercrombie.  John and Fannie Cavender Abercrombie were parents of 10 children: John, James, Clemeth, Charles, William, Young, Washington,Joseph, Andrew, and Fanny.  John and Fannie Abercrombie are both buried in the Cavender-Barnes Family Cemetery located near the old two-story house out from Murrayville.  The inscription on the headstone for John is barely legible and gives date of birth as 1792, death date 1864.  Inscription on headstone for Fannie is illegible.
