                   Info. from Beverly Gardner,Maryville Mo.@ Excerpts from a copy of newspaper story written in 1882. John Grom was born in  Clark  County,Kentucky, May 1st 1817. William Grom and Mary Groom his father and mother were Kentuckians by birth. In the beginnings of the year 1820 William Groom moved with his Family to what is now Boone county, MO. where he remained through the winter of 1820-1821. In the spring of 1821 he moved thence to Clay county, MO. where he continued to make his home until his death in March 14th 1822. William Groom left surviving him his widow and seven children, four boys and three girls. in 1826 his mother married John Mcgill. John Mcgill was appointed Indian agent among the Kaws under General William CLark and Captain Meriwether Lewis.
