Murray Co. Ga. History. Info from Sarah Lord Gardener of Marietta Ga. Dau. of Wesley and Nancy Maulden. Census recs. of 1830 Habersham Co. Ga. 1850 Murray Co. Ga. p.9,and 379,1860 and 1870 Izard Co.Ark. census. In 1840 census Thomas had a female aged 90/100 with him. His mother? In 1850 census she was with Hugh and was age 70. in 1850 Mahaleys parent were in Thomas' household. In 1870 Thomas dau. Julie Ann Hames was back in the household after the death of her husband, Ab Hames in Civil war. In an article 7 Nov.1962 in the dalton Daily News,pg. 3 entitled "Many Scotch- Irish desc. Here" It stated 'Three members of the Montgomery family were pioneer citizens of Murray. It was intimated that Sarah Montgomery Cox was a sister of Thomas and Hiram. Sarah was listed as born in Tenn. They were born in S.C. This would mean the family was in Tenn. between 1796/1800 or her birthplace is wrong.
