He was living with his son, Clayton R. Rublee at the time of the 1900 Census. He died of paretic dementia. This was confirmed by the memory of Marshall Rhea whom was named after him. Mr. Rhea`s father worked for Clayton Rublee as a farmhand. He remembers that "Old man Rublee" promised him a Morgan horse, but that he went "off his head" before Mr. Rhea got it. He lived all his life on the farm he had inherited from his father on the road between Berkshire Centre and Enosburg Falls, VT. He was very active in town community affairs, serving many years as a selectman. He served 1 term as town representive in the legislature. A few years before his death, the townspeople presented him a gold-headed cane in appreciation for his many years of service [Charles Rublee manuscript]
