MRS. DOROTHEA E. HUTTON
Dorothea E. Hutton, age 83, of Sedan, Kansas, passed away Sunday afternoon, April 8, 2001, at the Sedan City Hospital in Sedan.
Dorothea was born February 6, 1918 in Caney, Kansas to Harry L. and Anna R. (Courtney) Harding. Dorothea was raised in the Caney and Tyro communities. She graduated from Tyro High School and also received her associates degree at Coffeyville Community College. She taught at Lone Cherry and Peru schools.
Dorothea married Darrel Hutton in 1938 at her home in Tyro, KS. They moved to the Hale community and later to Sedan. Darrel preceded Dorothea in death in November of 1970. She worked at Capps Nursing Home, she sold Avon products, cooked meals for the prisoners at the Chautauqua County Jail and she was active and instrumental in the founding of the Verdigris Valley Developmental Center at Independence, KS.
Dorothea is survived by one daughter, Sharon Blankinship, Sedan, KS, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Carrol Ann Blankinship and Dianna Hutton, one son, Clark Hutton and one sister, Leslie Johnson.
Services for Dorothea E. Hutton will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at the Graves Memorial Chapel in Caney, KS. Private intennent will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan.
The family has suggested a memorial to the Pleasant Valley Manor, 613 E. Elm, Sedan, KS. Memorials may be left with the Graves Funeral Home, 107 N. State, Caney, KS.
