                   MARRIAGE:
Marriage date also listed as 27 March 1842.

Peter Foster is listed in the 1840 Census in Madison, Clark, OH. This Peter Foster is listed as being between 60 and 70 years old. His wife (presumably) is listed as being 30-40 years old. There is also in the household 1 male under 5, 1 male 10-15, 1 female under 5, 1 female 10-15.

Peter Foster is listed as marrying Elizabeth Olmstead in March or Sept of 1842, according the the sources included in this file. There is no Peter Foster listed on the 1850 Census, but there is an Elizabeth Foster, with boys who fit the ages of the 1840 census, minus the two daughters listed on the 1840 Census. There is a new child, Hannah Foster, 5 years old, who would be the child of the union of Peter and Elizabeth.

If these are the same people, the woman listed in the 1840 census is the mother of the older children, and is not Elizabeth. And, due to the marriage date, it is evident that Elizabeth is not the mother of these children, except Hannah.

Elizabeth Foster married David Killen on 20 may 1855, according to Clark County Marriage Licenses, Vol 4, p.156 (source indexed at Clark County, OH Genweb). They lived in Madison, Clark, OH in 1850. It is highly likely that this is the same David Killen who is father of Hannah's Husband, James W. Killen. Hannah and James would have been step-siblings.

Elizabeth always lists her birth place as New Jersey. In 1850, while widowed, there is an Elizabeth Evans living with the family, also born in New Jersey, and aged 60 years. It is poossible that this Elizabeth Evans is the mother of Elizabeth, and either the mother married an Evans, or the Olmstead maiden name is incorrect, or was a marriage name from a previous marriage, and Evans is Elizabeth's true maiden name.

In 1850, listed with Elizabeth is Clayton Foster, age 14, probably not Elizabeth's child by Peter, because they were not married at the time of Clayton's birth, but he is listed as born in NJ, the place of Elizabeth's birth. Unless Peter Foster moved from New Jersey, this is probably Elizabeth's child from a previous marriage who took the Foster name. This would make the Evans maiden name and Olmstead married name theory more plausible.
