SHORT HISTORY: Martha Etta (Ett) was the 11th child born to James James and Mary Richards. They were still living at E.T. (Ettie or Lake Point), Utah; but her father died when she was only 7 and she moved to Salt Lake City with her mother. Five years later her mother died and she went to live with her sister Margaret Lewis to attend school and then came to Park Valley/Rosette, Utah to live with her older sister Harriet and be near her brothers. At age 20 she married Seaver (Steve) Callahan. Thus, Menah's brother married David's sister. At this time the Callahan property was divided so Steve could get his share. They soon had 2 children born in Rosette, Utah where they continued to live for several years. About 1898 the family moved onto a ranch in Lost River, Idaho. Ett went to Salt Lake City, Utah, (1910) to give birth to Elizabeth. The children went to school in Moore, 5 miles away. Then a house was bought in N Ogden so the children could go to school there. They lived in Lost River until 1918 when they sold their property and moved to Jackson, Wyoming. In Jackson Steve prospered in ranching, becoming relatively wealthy. But, he became an alcoholic and lost it all. Ett was kind and gentle - never losing her temper. She was a model house keeper and cook, and always helping others. She raised her daughter's son after her early death. Ett died in Jackson in her mid-sixties.
