Historical information included in notes. John Lloyd first married a unknown spouse about 1704. She died a bout 1725 in London, England. After his wife and child died in 1725. It is believed that John came to America as an Indentured Prisoner convicted of theft. He Stole several shoemaker tools. His punishment was 14 years of indentured service in America. The ship was th Rappahnock under the command of Charles Whale. On March 10, 1727, he and his fellow prisoners(7men and 1 woman) was bound for Maryland. [Information from Mary Beth Marchant] Father was from Wales.Was apprentice to a boot and shoe maker at a young age. Got married without employer's permi ssion and could not become a master craftsman. Worked as a journeyman until convicted of theft of several shoemaker's tools. His punishment was 14 years of indentured service in Americ a.1727 Mar 10 sailed on the Rappahanock under command of Charles Whale bound for Maryland.1750's served in Frederick Co VA militia.1767 - 1769 appointed Reader of Parish of Frederick of the Church of England at McKays Chapel .1772 Nov 27 exempted for payment of Parish levies.All five sons served during revolutionary war.
