John Roy APPLEBY

                   My father's name was John Roy Appleby and he was born 16 Dec 1916.  When he was 3 years old his mother, Helen Ida Gray, divorced his father, John Roy Appleby.  In 1921 my grandmother remarried a gentlemen by the name of Raymond Arthur George and he became my dad's step-father, but never adopted my dad for some reason.  In 1945 my dad's real father called him and they met at a restaurant in Philadelphia.  It was after that meeting that my dad decided to change his name to John Roy George.  My dad was married to his first wife, Mary McCracken, and they had a daughter named Patricia Ann when he decided to change his last name.  When my dad had his name changed he also had his first wife's and daughter's last name changed to George at the same time.
