Notes:
I do not believe Iver to be a son of Robert Mckay and Patience Job. Iver emigrated in 1754 with his wife directly to Cape Fear , NC. They then lived in Wilmington. Thkey moved to bladen co before 1771. There is no evidence of him going to VA where Robert Mckay and his wife were. G. Brown Golode in his Virginia Cousins ( Ancestry and Posterity of John Goode of Whitby, 1887 states : Robert mckay, Jr of Frederick Co, Va had a son , james who removed to NC where he had many descendants, among them the Hon. James J. Mckay of Goldsboro...." This is highly improbable and unlikely . W H.C. Goode, esq in his writings on the Mckay family state that Robert Mckay md Rachel Ridgway and their children list: " Jacob Mckay of Va and others,______Mckay who settled in NC where he has many desc a, among them Hon James J Mckay of Goldsborough...."
It is obvious both authors are guessing. Neither authors even give IVER 's name

Neither are there any children Ivers family named after the Virgina crowd. the children listed by Robert Mckay and Patience Job are: Andrew 1736-1804; Jacob, Margaret, Robert, Job , John

There IS a IVer Mckay that emig after 1772 to carolina who has been mistaken by the above mentioned writers but this Iver Mckay arrival is far too late to be the correct ancestor.

The IVer Mckay born in 1732 in Campbeltown, Kintyre stays in Campbeltown and marries Margaret Mceacharhe . He did not emig to America.

Daniel joined the fight for the Revolution in 19 Feb 1777 in Cpt Joshua Bowmans company. He was still there in 8 sep 1778. This was a light infantry unit.

In 1767 , there is a Daniel mcKay living in Cumberland Co. with Archibald, Alexander , anguish. Archibald was there alone as a taxpayer in 1755. Ivor Mckay was no longer a taxpayer.

Daniel is probably son of Iver Mckay. There is no other Daniel mentioned that lives nearby.

Robeson so was created 1787 from Bladen where Iver was living. Iver mentions Daniel in his will. Daniel dies 1802 in Robeson Col. He also had 3 plantations in Richmond, NC.
