Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild - Ship Elizabeth and Anne
George Marchbanks took part in the Jacobite rebellion of 1715. He was captured, imprisoned, and deported from England on the ship, "Elizabeth and Anne," which was used as transportation for the purpose of deporting prisoners, as well as a slave ship. On 14 January 1716 the "Elizabeth and Anne" sailed from Liverpool, England to Yorktown, Virginia. On the ship's list he appeared as George Marjoriebanks. Upon arriving in Virginia, he changed his name from Marjoribanks to Marchbanks. George moved on to Amelia County, Virginia, where he met and married Ann Echols/Eckols.
He married Ann Eckols Abt 1717 at of New Kent, St Peter's Par, Amelia, Virginia . Ann Eckols was born at King and Queen, Virginia Abt 1695 daughter of John Echols and Mary Cave .
