Note: 1. He came to Tennessee from Danville, Virginia 2. He built a log cabin in Grainger Co. known as the "Red House". It became an important stage route & tavern, many dignitaries stopped there on their way to Richmond, VA & Washington DC 3. Last will & testament of John Jernigan, Signed 8 March 1816, Proved 10 June 1816. 4. Occupation - Farmer
Note: 1. In 1806 John and his wife Susanna and their family were living in Cocke., TN where John purcahsed 338 acres of land in Grainger Co. TN 2. John did not leave Grainger Co. with his brothers and sisters and their family when they migrated to Ohio, but settled on his tract of land in Grainger Co. where he remained. 3. John left part of his estate to his 11 geandchildren. 4. Will of John Jarnagin, Grainger Co., TN.
