James GREGSON

                   Birth:  John, son of John and Jacosa Gregson, Maidstone, was born in Maidstone and baptized on December 18, 1814.  Father was a soldier.  (I believe the father's name is in error and is really James.  There are no other Gregsons in this county.  The marriage certificate of James Gregson and Jocosa Pettit is found in Maidstone in 1813.  Jacosa is a name not found commonly.)  Film #1835447, Item 2. #820.

Thomas is listed with his wife, Sarah Gregson, age 28, at home, born in Staffordshire, ?, box is also marked whether blind, or deaf and dumb.  Children:  Thomas, age 7, a scholar, born in St. Neots, Huntingdon, James, age 6, scholar, born in St. Neots, John, age 3, born in St. Neots, and Sarah, age 2, born in St. Neots.  An Apprentice, George Covington is living with them, unmarried, age 19, tailor's apprentice, can't read where he's born, also blind or deaf and dumb.
