Obituary, Star Valley Independent:  Carl Golden Erickson, 75, long-time Freedom rancher, died April 24, 1976 at the Star Valley Hospital in Afton of a lingering heart condition.
       Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Freedom Ward LDS chapel, with Keith Isatt conducting.  Interment was in the Freedom Cemetery.
       He was born March 25, 1901 at Richmond, Utah, to Carl Gustaf and Annie Elizabeth Bright Erickson.  His parents moved to Star Valley when he was 2 1/2 years old.
       Golden had a great love for horses and was one of the organizers of the first cutter races in Star Valley.  He was responsible for helping get the Freedom Rodeo Grounds started for rodeos and celebrations.  He was one of the original organizers and stock holders of the first Freedom Swiss Creamery.  He also helped in contributing to get the Silver Star Telephone Co. dial service started.  Lower Valley Power and Light, Inc. was another community project he helped to organize and support.
       He is survived by his wife, Ina, Freedom; one daughter, Mrs. C. H. (Shirley Lou) Davis, West Jordan, Utah; sons, Carl H. Erickson, Salt Lake Cityu, Utah; Spencer D. Erickson, Portland, Oregon; Bryce H. Erickson, Freedom, Wyoming; and Rondo H. Erickson, Clearfield, Utah; 17 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Mrs. Jim (Lucy) Wilson, Richfield, Idaho; Alvin Erickson and Mrs. Glen (Alice) Jenkins, Freedom, Wyoming; Mrs. Melvin (Hilda) Wright, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Mrs. Delvin (Veda) Passey, Thayne, Wyoming; Mrs. Owen (Zelda) Draney, Cody, Wyoming; Mrs. Ivan (Berniece) Nelson, Bountiful, Utah; and Byron Erickson, Ogden, Utah.
       He was proceded in death by an infant son, two brothers and two sisters.
