Notes:
RESEARCH NOTE: Many sources suppose that Mr. West who married Isabel was the son of John West III, although most information on John West III shows that he had only one son, Charles West, who died without ever having children. It is likely that John West III had additional sons, but court records have been either lost or burned. Most evidence points towards this being a correct ancestry. It has been supposed that Mr. West and wife, Isabel, died while the children were still young, and the children were raised by an aunt, Miss Lucy Fike, who was distantly related to John West III
NOTES:
Probable Parents John WEST & Judith ARMISTEAD

Dear Fike researchers,My name is Ben West, a researcher of the West family and its possibleconnectionswith the Fikes. These Wests resided near the Virginia/North Carolina borderin Granville County, North Carolina, and it is highly likely John Fike, Sr.was their neighbor. Numerous researchers have proposed that a Richard West, who oversaw landtransactions between John and Malachi Fike, is either the progenitor or acousin of my West line. My ancestor, Amos West, had 5 siblings, and they are listedas follows:WILLIAM WEST b. 1752 m. Angeline Clendennen 1771 in Chatham County, NC. d.April 1842 in Simpson County, Kentucky. (Was a Private in the RevolutionaryWar from the Hillsboro Dist, NC and participated in the battle of Lindley'sMill.) JAMES WEST m. Susanna Morgan February 9, 1808 in Logan County, KY. d. inLogan County, Kentucky. (Fought in the Engineer Corp in the RevolutionaryWar.)(Helped survey Walker's line, VA/NC border.)LEONARD WEST, SR. b. August 12, 1760 in Granville County, North Carolina m.PhoebeMorgan Abt. 1798 at Morgan's Station, Sumner County, TN. d. October 13, 1842in Simpson County, KY. 2m. Tabitha Gant January 27, 1829. (Fought underCaptain Godrey Adams NC unit in the Revolutionary War.)AGNESS WEST b. May 26, 1762 in Louisa County, Virginia. m. George MillikenAbt. 1778 in Orange County, NC. d. May 6, 1848 in Spring Hill, Henry County,TennesseeRICHARD WEST, SR. b. 1764 probably in Green Springs, Louisa County, VA. AMOS WEST b. 1766 in Green Springs, Louisa County, VA. m. Frances HerndonApril 2, 1791 in Gallatin, Sumner County, TN. d. May or June 1819 in SulphurSprings, Simpson County, Kentucky. 2m. Anne B. Thompson April 18, 1808. (Wasa Virginia soldier in the American Revoluntion and a wealthy landowner inLogan and Simpson Counties, KY.)- - - - - - The unknown parents of these West siblings died early deaths, and theirchildren were reared by their maiden aunt, Miss Lucy Fike, who resided nearJohn Fike, Sr. in Orange County, North Carolina. Elmer Dickson, a notedFike family researcher, assumes thatLucy is a maiden daughter of John's, and that an unknown sister of Lucy'smaried a West, plausibly the aforementioned Richard. Have any of you heardmention of Lucy before? Here is what I have amassed on John Fike, Sr.'s family:JOHN FIKE, SR. was born Abt. 1720 and died Bef. 1790 in Chatham County,North Carolina He married ELIZABETH MALACHI* Abt. 1739.*The name Elizabeth Malachi was located at the Foshee Family Genealogy WebPage, andwas supposedly derived from the notes of Velma Foshee. However, hersurname has NOTbeen verified. I am including it in this message merely as a possibility.CHILDREN OF JOHN FIKE, SR. AND ELIZABETH MALACHIMALACHI FIKE b. 1740 d. Ihave also amassed a wealth of notes on the Fikes myself that I would be willingto share.Thank you in advance.Sincerely,Ben Westbmwest@usit.net
