John Gray Sr. - Peoria Journal Star
       Chillicothe - John L. Gray Sr., 91, of 522 N. Second died at 7:50 a.m. Sunday at Proctor Community Hospital.
       Born Jan 11, 1898, in Putnam to Thomas Jefferson and Maggie Taylor Gray, he married Elva Hargadine on Jan 3, 1927, in Peoria.  She died Dec. 17, 1977.  He was also preceded in death by one sister and one grandson.
       Surviving are four sons, John L. Jr., Harley and Wallace, all of Chillicothe, and Alfred "Tote"; of Peoria; one daughter, Judy Secrest of Peoria; one brother Clarence of Rockford; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren
       He worked at Caterpillar for 17 years, retiring in 1963.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chillicothe.
       Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Weber Funeral Home.  The Rev. Robert Shimmin will officiate.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  burial will be in Chillicothe City Cemetery.
       Memorials may be made to his church.
