LEVI L. HARGADINE
CHILLICOTHE  Levi Lester Hargadine, 75, retired farmer, died at 5 a. m. Thursday at his home.
Born Dec. 20, 1871, in Medina township, he was a son on Taylor and Louisa Hurd Hargadine.  He retired from farming 15 years ago, residing in Chillicothe for the past seven years.  He was a former member of Odd Fellow lodge, from which he had his 25-year jewel.
He married Miss Annie Cook in 1893.  She died in 1906.  The following year, he married Miss Ursula Reynolds, and she died Dec. 26, 1946.
Surviving are two sons, Raleigh Hargadine of Edelstein and Roy Hargadine of Dunlap; and three daughters, Miss Edna Hargadine of Peoria, and Mrs. Elva Gray and Mrs. Ora Miller, both of Chillicothe.  One son, Charles, is dead.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. CST Saturday at the Presbyterian church in Dunlap, with burial in LaSalle cemetery near Chillicothe.  Friends may call at the Tretheway funeral home in Princeville this afternoon and evening.

CHILLICOTHE, AUG. 1.  Funeral services for Levi Lester Hargadine, 75 retired farmer, who died at his home Thursday morning, will be held at 2 p. m. CST Saturday at the Presbyterian church at Dunlap.  Burial will be in LaSalle cemetery near Chillicothe.
Surviving are two sons, Raleigh Hargadine of Edelstein and Roy Hargadine of Dunlap, and three daughters, Miss Edna Hargadine of Peoria, and Mrs. Elva Gray and Mrs. Ora Miller, both of Chillicothe.  One son, Charles preceded him in death.

Lester Hargadine Rites Are Held at Dunlap Church on Saturday
       Funeral services for Levi Lester Hargadine, who died at his home Thursday morning after an illness of several weeks, were held at the Presbyterian church in Dunlap, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of Rev. C. C. Chappell, pastor of the Baptist church in Chillicothe.  Burial was in the LaSalle cemetery.  Pallbearers were Charles Bland, Alvin Ruse, Everett Bateman, George Shaw, Mr. Athens and Arthur Adams.
       Levi Lester Hargadine, son of Taylor and Louise Jane Hurd Hargadine was born December 20, 1871, and died July 31 at the age of 75 years, 8 months and 11 days.  He resided in Medina township for 68 years, the last seven years of which were spent in Chillicothe.
       He was united in marriage to Annie L. Cook of Chillicothe in 1894.  To this union were born four children: Raleigh of Edelstein, Miss Edna Hargadine of Peoria, Roy of Dunlap and Mrs. Laura Mangold of Henry.  His wife preceded him in death November 3, 1906
       In 1907 he was married to Ursula Reynolds of Dunlap who preceded him in death December 26, 1948.  Four children were born to this union:  Mrs. Elva Gray of Chillicothe, Charles, now deceased; Forrest of Dunlap; and Mrs. Ora Miller of Chillicothe
       Surviving are Mr. Hargadine's seven children, eleven grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews.  An only brother, John C. Hargadine, died January 27, 1934.

       Dunlap Illinois, Nov. 5 - Special to The Star.  Mrs. Lester Hargadine, residing five miles east of Dunlap died suddenly Saturday evening at her home.  She had been in apparently good health and death came without warning.  She was getting supper when she fell and lapsed into unconciousness, from which she never rallied.  The funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 at the residence.  Mrs. Lester is survivied by her husband and four children.

Obituary
       Annie Louisa Cook was born March 1, 1875, In Woodford County, Illinois and died Nov. 3, 1906 aged 31 years, 8 months and 1 day.
       When six years of age, with her parents, she moved to Kansas, remaining there for twelve years.  They then moved again to Illinois, making their home in Peoria county.
       In April 1894, she was married to Lester Hargadine and to them were born four children, Walter Rawleigh, age 11, Edna Elida, age 9, Roy Raymond, age 7, and Laura Louise, age 4, to whom she has been a kind and loving careful mother and at the same time an affectionate and dutiful daughter to her husbands aging parents.  She also leaves a mother, four sisters and five brothers.
       Since childhood she has endeavored to live a consistent Christian life, and that she was beloved by all with whom she was associated, is attested by a host of sorrowing friends and neighbors.
       The funeral was conducted by the Rev. Thomas of the Dunlap Presbyterian church and he was aided in the service by the choir of his church.  The funeral was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Hargadine and the remains were carried to Sand Prairie cemetery for burial.  The pall bearers were of the Dunlap I. O. O. F. lodge as Mr. Hargadine is a member of this lodge.

RALEIGH HARGADINE -
EDELSTEIN  W. Raleigh Hargadine, 86, of rural Edelstein died at 8:13 p.m. Monday in the emergency room at Proctor Hospital, Peoria.
He had been a patient at Heights Colonial Manor Nursing Home, Peoria Heights, the past six months.
Born April 22, 1895, in Medina Township, a son of Lester and Annie Cook Hargadine, he married Frances Budde March 20, 1943, in Lincoln.
Surviving are his wife; one stepson, Stanley Bednar of Chesea, Mass; five stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; one brother, Forrest of Dunlap; three sisters, Mrs. Otto (Laura) Mangold of Wyoming, Mrs. Art (Ora) Fahey and Miss Edna Hargadine, both of Chillicothe.  Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
He worked as a mechanic at Doubet-Courtney Implement Co., Edelstein, until retiring about 15 years ago.
Services will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow in Edelstein Congregational Church, the Rev. W. W. Sanders officiating.  Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens, Peoria.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Hammitt Funeral Home, Princeville, and one hour before services at the church.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donors choice.

ALTA  Roy R. Hargadine, 81, of Alta collapsed in the front yard of his home yesterday afternoon and was pronounced dead about 4 p.m.
A resident of the Dunlap area all his life, he was born Sept. 2, 1898, in Medina Township, a son of Lester and Annie Cook Hargadine.  He first married Cora Flinner.  She died in February 1932.  One brother and one sister also preceded him in death.
He married Lola Williams in 1938 at Davenport, Iowa, and she survives, as do three daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Anita) Arndt, Chillicothe, Mrs. Al (Mary Lou) Behymer and Mrs. Terry (Nancy) Moran, both of Peoria Heights; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, Raleigh of Edelstein, Forrest of Dunlap; three sisters, Miss Edna Hargadine of Peoria, Mrs. Otto (Laura) Mangold of Wyoming and Mrs. Art (Ora) Fahey of Chillicothe.
He was a burr operator at Caterpillar Tractor Co. 21 years, retiring in 1963.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Bouton  Hammitt Funeral Home, Dunlap, where visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
The Rev. R. David Goodell will officiate and burial will be in Mount Hawley Cemetery.

4:40 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 1999, at Toulon Health Care Center in Toulon.
Born Jan. 4, 1902, in Radnor Township, Peoria County, to Lester and Annie Cook Hargadine, she married Otto Mangold on Nov. 8, 1923, in Peoria. He died April 8, 1967.
She also was preceded in death by one grandson, two brothers, one sister, one half sister and two half brothers.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Roland (Edna) Kruger of Wyoming; one granddaughter; two great-granddaughters; two great-great-grandsons; and one half sister, Ora Fahey of Peoria.
She was a member of Saratoga United Methodist Church in rural Henry.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Wyoming Funeral Home. The Rev. Mike Robison will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
