FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR FRANK BRANTON TUESDAYFuneral rites for the late Frank L. Branton, 88, a resident of this area since 1891, were held at the Phillips Funeral Home Tuesday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Edwin B. Towle officiating. Interment was made in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.Mr. Branton passed away March 26 at Goldendale. He was born at Wycena, Wisconsin, April 13, 1866, the son of James and Theresa Branton. He spent his youth in Kansas, coming west in 1891 to work for Tom Craftin at Centerville.On Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1895 he was united in marriage to Lydia May Burgen of Goldendale. To this union one son, James Otis, was born.So after the birth of his son, Mr. Branton took up farming east of Goldendale, later moving to the Burgen ranch south of here. He lived there until he and his family moved to Goldendale in 1915.In the early days of Frank served in the state militia.Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Otis, of Goldendale; one granddaughter, Mrs. Robert E. Iams, of Tacoma; a brother, Charles, of Payette, Wisconsin; a niece, Zona Branton of Bellaire, Kansas; and a host of friends.Active pallbearers were Fred Lear, Floyd Vanhoy, Chet Enderby, Fuller McEwen, William Hoctor, and Harry A. Ferguson. Honorary pallbearers were Ward McEwen, Jack Dressel, Sr., William Lear, A.L. MacBlaine, and Bud Oldham.
