Murdock, his daughter, reported that her father, Hans, had changed his name when he emigrated to the U.S. She does not remember what his name was but she thinks it was the name for "Hill" or "Mountain" in Norwegian. Sister Jeanette Fisher, of the Logan Ninth Ward, and a native Norwegian, gives the following possible names for hill, and mountain: As=Asen=the hill; or Aas=Aasen=the hill; or Fjell or Fjeld=the Mountain . Berg would also be a possibility, she stated. Information recorded 5 Mar 1991. Atle Tessum, also a native Norwegian, gives the following words for hill in Norwegian: "Bakke or Bakken which seems to fit Backer. Atle is a Quality Assurance worker for the Welfare Services with offices in Salt Lake City. Information obtained 2 Mar 1992 at Logan, Utah. Further research is planned on the name Bakke or Bakken.

3. Marriage of Juanita and Harold Murdock, 6 Oct 1922, Ethel Smith signed as a witness.
