Notes:
Emigrated to the U.S. between 1885 and 1891. He was a convert to the LDS church and settled in Smithfield, Cache, Utah. He worked in the beet fields thinning and topping beets. He was a tailor in Denmark and soon became discouraged working as a farm hand. He opened up a tailor shop in Ogden, Weber, Utah. My earliest remembrance of him was visiting him in his tailor shop on 25th st., just west of Grant Ave. I remember the large tables he sat on to do the hand sewing and the large pressing irons on the stove. He lived on 11th and Grant Ave just below the sandridge which no longer exists. His front door faced the sandridge and was not very convenient for a front entrance. The house was quite nice and Grandma Hansen kept it neat and tidy. The front room was seldom used and I was never allowed to go into their bedroom, but I had the run of the rest of the house including the kitchen.

Wife: Amy Emma Ethel Hansen

Name: Amy Hansen had an extremely interesting number of names. According to my research trhe following names are listed:
1. Marriage to Hans Backer, 19 Jul 1891, Lynne, Weber, Utah Territory signed Amy Hansen.
2. Marriage to Ransom Teg Smith, 3 Dec 1904 signed Emma Backer.
3. Marriage of Juanita and Harold Murdock, 6 Oct 1922, Ethel Smith signed as a witness.
4. Amie Ethel Smith listed on Death Certificate, 22 Nov 1926.
5. Amie Annie Ethel Smith on grave marker, Ogden City Cemetery.
6. In interview with Aunt Anna Hansen Kissel, Emma's sister, and checking her records it was found listed as Emma Ethel Smith. In summary, she used at one time or another: Amy (Amie), Emma, Ethel. The name Annie on her grave marker does not appear on any documents we have on her. Carl R. Wallis, 2 Aug 1988
