BYRAM LEE BYBEE. Born 25 Feb. 1799, Barren County Kentucky; died 27 June 1864 (age 65), Grafton, Washington,
Utah, buried Grafton [I visited his grave site this past summer - a most interesting place, a real "ghost town" made famous for
some of the scenes in the movie "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid"]; married (1) 5 Jan. 1820, Barren County, Kentucky,
to Betsy Layne/Lane. He married (2) 15 Aug. 1856, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, to Else Maria Knudson.

Byram is listed in the 1820 Barren County, and 1830 Monroe County, Kentucky census. He is listed in Barren County tax
records from 1820 to 1826, and again from 1833 to 1836. In 1828 he was listed in the Monroe County tax records. [note: tax
records have not survived for all years.] He is in the 1840 Clay County, Indiana census. Byram, together with his uncle Lee
Allen Bybee and several other extended family members joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons)
about 1841. Byram moved to near Nauvoo about 1841, then on to Pottawattamie County, Iowa about 1846. He was in the
1850 census of Andrew County, Missouri, working there to obtain funds to move farther west, which he did, coming to Utah in
the Alfred Cardon Company in 1851. He was a Justice of the Peace 1854-1861. He is in the 1860 Davis County, Utah
census. The first 10 children were by his first wife, and the last 2 by his second wife.
