   such in Bancroft's History of California;Journal History - 17 Oct. 1846, page 4
   The Mormon Battalion at Sante Fe and the families and sick were all busy
   preparing for their respective journeys.  Orders No. 10 were issued.
   Headquarters I II. On recommendations of their Company Commander Corporals
   Edward Martin and Daniel Tyler are promoted to the rank of Sergeant and
   Privates R.G. Brownell, Wm. Squires and John Fife are appointed Corporals, all
   in Company C.  This will be obeyed and respected accordingly.
