BIRTH:  place of birth listed on some family group sheets as Portage, Box Elder, Utah; and on others as Wellsville, Utah, as stated in the History of Charles John, compiled by Vivian John Baker, but in most accounts the family moved to Portage in the summer of 1867 and all births after that were in Portage.  As noted in church records, Thomas was born in 1868, in Portage, Utah.

BAPTISM:  baptized 24 Dec 1878 by James John and confirmed 29 Dec 1878 by Martin V Hale, Portage Ward records, microfilm #013-003-0026363, pg 11 #263.

SOURCE:  research done by LaVerne Marley, my grandmother, "Thomas was the second child of Charles and Elizabeth.  I have the most complete records for that family besides my own mother's family, so I will try to tell you what a fruitful people the descendants of our great grandparents are.  Thomas married Alice Ivie.  They had eight children: Lenore, Vesta, Vivian, Kenneth, Lionel, Leonard, Alice Wanda, Winona Maxine."  At one point (abt 1990) as the counting of descendents was done, Gayle Jensen had 21, LaVerne had 36, Lenora had 109, Dean had 15, and Leo 26 children, grandchildren, and great grandchilren.

DEATH:  per funeral service program, services were held Friday, Nov 20, 1953 in the Lava Ward Chapel with Bishop Morris Teeples officiating under the direction of the Hall-Grant Mortuary.  Dedication of the grave by John Eli Marley (my grandfrather-Anna Nestler Austin).

DEATH:  per funeral program she was born in 1872, not 1871.  Services held in the Lava Hot Springs LDS Chapel on Thursday, February 22, 1951 with Bishop Morris W. Teeples officiating under the direction of the Hall-Grant Mortuary of Pocatello, ID.  Buried in the Lava Hot Springs Cemetery.

OBITUARY - Boise, Idaho, Monday, July 30, 1956
Mrs. Vivian Baker Dies in Hospital
       Mrs. Vivian J. Baker, 62, died early this morning in a Boise hospital after a long illness.
Services will be held for her at the Third Ward, Latter-day Saints chapel at 2 p.m.  Thursday.  Bishop Marion Callister will officiate.  Interment will be at Cloverdale.
       She and her husband, Alfred S. Baker, came to Boise in 1945 from Lava Hot Springs and purchased the virginia Auto courts.  They have operated the courts since then.  She was secretary of the Boise Motel association for two years.
       Mrs. Baker was born at Blackfoot on April 11, 1894.  Her Boise home was at 315 Federal  Way.
       Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three sons, Vaughn Mathews, Ogden, Utah;  Lynn Mathews, Los Angeles, Calif.,  Harold Baker, Lava Hot Springs; five daughters, Mrs. Leone Combs, Galt, Calif.; Mrs. Elda Chatterton, Pocatello;  Mrs. Beulah Warner, Los Angeles;  Mrs. Beaturice Sparks, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Roma Kruger, Los Angeles;  three brothers, Kenneth John,  Kemmerer, Wyo.; Lionel JOhn, Kemmerer, Wyo., and Leonard John, San Francisco, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Maxine Hooper, Lava Hot Springs;  24 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
       Relyea chapel is handling arrangements.

DEATH: per obit in newspaper, passed away on a Tuesday, at her home from a lingering illness. Active LDS. Survived by husband, son Gary Hooper, and daughter, Mrs Harry (Mona) Peterson of Soda Springs, ID.  Two brothers, Kenneth K. John of Kemmerer, WY and Thomas L. John of Lava.  Funeral under the
direction of Manning Funeral Chapel in Pocatello with services on Saturday in Lava LDS church, Bishop Raymond E. Bailey conducting.  Burial in the Lava Hot Springs Cemetery.
