Levi Newell KENDALL
Levi Newell Kendall, one of the original pioneers of Utah, was born 19 April 1822 at Lockport, Niagara Co., New York, A son of Levi Kendall and Lorena Lyman. He was baptized in Redford Michigan, by Elder D.B. Hurbert, in October 1842. He was ordained Seventy in April 1844, under the hands of Pres. Joseph Smith Sr. and filled a mission to Michigan the same year. After his arrival in Great Salt Lake Valley with the Pioneer Company in July 1847, he assisted to plow the land and plant crops, until he returned to winter Quarters with Pres. Young in the fall of the same year. He came back to the valley in 1848 and married Elizabeth Clements in Salt Lake City in 1851. In 1856 he became a resident of Springville, Uah, where he assisted in the construction of Canyon roads and irrigation canals and from which place in 1861 he went to the Missouri River with Capt. John R. Murdock to bring poor saints to the "Valley". Bro.
