Joseph Call: a Baptist Minister, organized Churches in various parts of Mass,
Vermont, and Canada from 1790 to 1816.  His son, Cyril Call, was the first Call
to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Oct 1831 and
his (Cyril's) son, Anson Call, well known in church history, joined in 1836 and
they came, with their families, to Utah in 1848.

Joseph fought in the Revolutionary War. He was 50 years ol d when the war started. His rank was Private (PVT) in Virginia. Joseph Call fought in the battle of Bunker Hill and served under George Washington. 

Joseph Call, of Vermont, was in Capt. John Benjamin's company of militia, under the command of Col. Joseph Marsh, from Aug 16 to Oct 4, 1777.He was also in a scouting party from Woodstock in the year 1777. He was called out on an alarm from March 9 to 12, with Capt. Jesse Safford's company of militia. His name was on the roll of men appointed by the committee of safety of the towns of Hartford, Lebanon and Woodstock, who watched and guarded suspected persons, as enemies to the United States of America.He was also in Zebulon Lyon's company, employed in guarding the committee of safety to Windsor, and Col. Stone and others to Springfield, service all in Windsor County, Vermont.He removed from Vermont to Perry, Ohio, in 1815, and is buried in the South Ridge burying ground in West Madison. His son, Rufus Call, was in the war of 1812.

Joseph Call became a Baptist minister. From 1790 to 1816 he traveled extensively and helped to establish congregations in various parts of Vermont, Massachusetts, and Canada. In 1793 removed his family from Woodstock to Cambridge and preached for a time to a church composed of Congregationalists and Baptists.Shortly after the War of 1812 many of the Calls moved west from Vermont to Ohio. Joseph and some of his children were among them. Joseph spent his last years in Perry, Ohio where he died at the age of eighty.

He married Abigail Sprague Abt 1721 at Franklin, Vermont . Abigail Sprague was born at Malden, Middlesex, Massachusetts 21 Apr 1702 daughter of Samuel Sprague, Jr. and Sarah Green .
