JOHN SANDERSON ... was born in Cambridge 25 March 1677 (Bond, p. 416) and died 18 Jan. 1750 (Leicester Vital Records).He married 10 Jan. 1700/01, HANNAH STRATTON, probably the daughter of Samuel and Hannah (Wheat) Stratton of Watertown, although the couple was married in Woburn (Bond, p. 418). They moved from Watertown to Leicester between 1725 and 1730 but were not dismissed from the church until 8 April 1744. The widow, Hannah Sanderson, died there 7 Jan. 1756 (Leicester Vital Records).John Sanderson was a representative from Watertown in 1711 and 1712 and was a housewright. In Leicester he lived in the northwest part of the town and was selectman from 1732 to 1740. His will was dated 3 Jan. 1750 and was proved 28 Jan. 1750, ten days after his death (Worcester Co. Probate, No. 51949). The will was allowed 8 Feb. with bequests to son Benjamin; land already given, to son Ebenezer; land already given, to daughter Hannah Kingsbury; a note, to daughter Abiah Coolidge; a bond, to daughter Mehitable Dix; land already given, to daughter Prudence Smith and her husband Joshua Smith; half of a bond, to daughter Lydia Sanderson; the other half and all of his books, to daughter Tabitha Newton; a bond, to children of daughter Mary Pike, deceased, "I leave no more of my estate than what I gave to my said daughter in her lifetime"; to son-in-law, Joshua Smith, carpenter tools; to wife, Hannah, use and improvement of the whole estate, real and personal, during her natural life. Joshua Smith and Lydia Sanderson were named executors, with a bond required of £300, and a bond of £200 for the support of the widow. Text: vol. 127 (1973), p. 186-187
