BIOGRAPHY: The book "GENEALOGICAL AND FAMILY HISTORY of the STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE", vol. I, pages 265-275 states:
The Sanborn family is one of those early families, which, being prolific and composed of individuals able to take care of themselves, and having descended from not one but three original immigrant ancestors, now numbers a mulitude, many of them like their forbears being leaders of men and filling positions of honor, trust and profit, worthy successors of the men who transformed the New England wilderness into one of the richest areas of America.
John, William and Stephen Sanborne (for so they spelled the name) were sons of an English Sanborne (probably William of Brimpton, Berkshire) and Anne, daughter of the Rev. Stephen Bachiler. Anne Bachiler's husband died about 1630, as is hsown by the records. the three sons of Anne Sanborne are said to have come to America with their grandfather Bachiler (a prominent preacher of New England) in 1632, but apparently their mother did not come over, nor have we any trace of the sons till 1639 in Hampton, New Hampshire.

Ann (Bachiler) was born in 1601. Her father, the Rev. Stephen Bachiler, was at that time minister of the Wherwell* (Horrell) parish, a "pretty village in Hampshire of the river Test." She married about 1619, John Sanborne, who was baptized in 16oo and was one of the Hampshire Sanbornes. Their three sons (John, William and Stephen) came to America in 1632 with their grandfather, the Rev. Stephen Bachiler.

* Wherwell, according to "A Genealogical Gazetteer of England", by Frank Smith, is a parish in Hampshire. 3 3/4 miles SE of Andover, with a 1831 population of 686 and within the archdeaconry and diocese of Winchester.

"Lieutenant John Sanborne was born in 1620. [Disposition in Norfolk County files.] He was probably in Hampton, New Hampshire, in 1640, since he was then granted a house lot and a tract of land there. In 1643, his name is signed to a Hampton petition, and from that date the records contain frequent mention of him. His house in Hampton was next to that of Stephen Bachiler and nearly opposite the old meeting house. On February 2, 1657, he was chosen selectman, and was six times afterwards selected to fill the same office, although not a freeman until May, 1666. In 1664 he was chosen ensign, and October 18, 1670, was commissioned lieutenant of Hampton forces. In 1683 he was chosen representative to the next general assembly. His inventory dated October 20, 1692, places the value of his property at 294 pounds, 14 shillings.
Dow's "History of Hampton" says he served as lieutenant in King Williams' war in 1689. He died October 20, 1692.
Lieutenant John Sanborne married (first) Mary, daughter of Robert Tuck, of Groton, Suffolk, and Hampton, New Hampshire. {1} She died December 30, 1668. He married (second) Margaret (Page) Moulton, widow of William Moulton, and daughter of Robert Page of Ormsby, Norfolk, England and Hampton, New Hampshire. {2}"

{1} As eldest son, John, was born about 1649, it is presumed that John
Sanborne and Mary Tuck were married around 1648.
{2} Second marriage would have been after death of first wife in 1668, hence
      1669/70.
