       "True Enoch, second son and thrid child of Enoch B. and Hannah G.(Thing) Prescott, was born in Lake Village, June 1, 1852.  Having studied preliminary in the public schools, he attended the New Hampshire Conference Seminary at Tilton, and concluded his education with a business course at the Manchester Commercial College.  As a young man he engaged in the insurance business at Laconia, and has followed it continuously for more than thirty years, being at the present time (1907) one of the best known in the state.  The Melcher and Prescott Agency, of which he is the financier, represents some of the strongest and most reliable companies in the world.
       In politics, Mr. Prescott is a democrat and he served as postmaster at Lakeport under President Cleveland.  he is a thirty-second degree Mason, belonging to all the subordinate bodies, including the commandery, and also affiliates with the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.  He married November 23, 1886, to Ada May Garmon, second child and oldest daughter of Charles B. and Laura A. (Philbrick) Garmon.  Mr. and Mrs. Prescott occupy one of the handsomest pieces of residential properties in Laconia.  they have one son, Edgar b., who was born April 30, 1888; at this time (1907) a student in Dartmouth College."
