Reference: Voter registration, San Diego County, Sept. 1894: "Casildo Fideroa" age 70 (so born in 1824), listed birthplace as Mexico. Reference: Bea Polloreno's notes: "Casildo born [in 1826] in San Ramon, CA. Returned to Sinaloa [where his parents were from] in 1844. Returned to California in 1849 from Sinaloa and married at Mission San Jose." In another place, Bea notes that Casildo was born at Rancho Santa Rita in Livermore, CA, which is near San Ramon. Reference: Julie (Fidero) Bohe said Casildo was 80 years old when he died in 1906. Her sister Edna (born 1902) remembered sitting in his lap at the Ranch when she was [almost] 3 years old. Bea Polloreno's notes say he died and was buried on the given dates in Dec 1904. Casildo is buried in a small plot alongside Rancho Santa Fe Road, about 2 miles south of San Marcos in San Diego County. It was on property owned by Casildo's son Liborio's brother-in-law Salvador Gonzales. The Figueroas: Our Figueroa lineage originated from the city of "Figuerola," Spain. Came of nobility and attained noble status and wealth in Argentina, South America. Some of the family branch migrated to "La Villa de Sinaloa," Nueva Espana (Mexico) in the early 1700s. Source: "Figueroa Family of Figueroa, Spain" from "The Augustan." Researched, Torrance, CA by Hartwell. -- Notes from Bea Polloreno. NAME: FIDEROA or FIGUEROA
2 TEMP LA 2 TEMP LA Maria Rosa Miranda is referred to as Rosario in the Census, and as Maria Rosa (age 20) in the 1860 Census. Reference: 1860 Census (Township No.2, Contra Costa Co., CA): she was age 20 (so born in 1840). Reference: Julia Augusta Bohe thought that her name was Antoinette Miranda. She said her father Theodore Fidero (born 14 Nov 1869) was 4 years old when she died (so 1873 or 1874). Reference: Death certificate of son, Theodore Fidero, lists her name as Anette Miranda. Reference: Death certificate of son, Raymundo Figueroa, lists her name as Rose Miranda. Ivy Fidero Laughter said her name was Rosa. Reference: Notes from Bea Polloreno: Rosa Miranda died at age 28, circa 1869 (but she also lists Theodore Fidero as born in 1864).
2 TEMP LA 2 TEMP LA Reference: 1860 Census (Township No.2, Contra Costa Co. CA): Cipriano age 5 (so born in 1855).
2 TEMP LA 2 TEMP LA Liborio Figueroa: Birth and death dates supplied by his daughter, Bea Polloreno, who extensively researched the Figueroa and Miranda family lines. Reference: 1860 Census (Township No.2, Contra Costa Co.): "Leviro" (Liborio) was age 2 (so born 1858). Bea Polloreno gives birthdate as 23 July 1860. Liborio and his brothers Cipriano and Raymond insisted that the family name was Figueroa, not Fideroa as their brother Theodore (and father Casildo) maintained. When Theodore was married in 1900, he changed the name to Fidero by dropping the final "a". Liborio Figueroa and Josefa Wilson were married at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Escondido, CA.
Raymond Figueroa died in a powder explosion at work in Alameda County, CA. He was hauling dynamite or other explosives in a wagon drawn by a team of horses. Cause of death was shock and burns. He was killed instantly. Survivor was listed as Mary. (Ref: Death certificate). His daughter was Mary; neither of his wives was named Mary. Raymond was divorced twice. NAME: Raimundo aka Raymond
Theodore Fideroa changed his name to Fidero when he was married in December 1900. Ivy Fidero Laughter says the name Fideroa was pronounced Fi-der'-o-a, and the final "a" was dropped. But Edna Fidero Michaels, Virginia (Figueroa) and others pronounced it Fi-ther-o'-a. Ivy was told that Fideroa (as opposed to Figueroa) was a name used in the Basque region of northern Spain. They had always heard that Casildo Fideroa was Castilian Spanish; Castile is a province in the north of Spain. Theodore's given name in Spanish was Teodoro Jose Fideroa.
