In the brief autobiography he wrote Theodore Roosevelt Peters noted that he had no idea his middle name was Roosevelt because no one ever told him that. As he became an adult, he got tired of the mail getting mixed up with the other Theodore Peters' in town so he just added the middle initial of "J" to stop the confusion. When the family obtained a copy of his birth certificate his name was listed as Theodore Roosevelt Peters.

Also, after the death of his first wife, he married Flossie May Bergendorf Shaken. She had lost her first husband and was working as a clerk at a convenience store where Ted shopped. They married in June 1966 and were together until Ted's death on 14 March 1997. They had moved to Florida in the 1960s where he worked as a self-employed carpet layer for many years until his knees became too arthritic to do the job. They returned to Ohio in the 1990s and spent their last few years together living in Apple Creek, Ohio.

He was interred next to his first wife, Alice, at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Daughtery Township, Beaver Co., PA. Flossie passed away a few years later and was interred next to her first husband in Ohio.

Married Flossie May Bergdorf SHAKEN after death of first wife Alice Alfretta LANSBERRY.

Birth Certificate is in the name of Florence Lansberry. One of two things happened, 1) Sometime after her birth certificate was filed her parents changed their minds and elected to call her by another name, Alice Alfretta, or 2) the family remembers that the doctor who delivered Alice had a habit of changing the baby's name if he didn't like what the parents had picked out - either way, she went by Alice Alfretta all of her life.
