Lois from the Chautauqua Co Gen Soc provided the following interesting information:
"Even more interesting, I think, is this find in the Indexes to Evening Observer, published in Dunkirk starting in Dec 1882.
(1) Herman T. Patchen, age 69, died May 1, 1891, at home of son-in-law, John Peterson, 601 Deer St., Dunkirk. He was buried at Ashtabula, Ohio.
(2) John Peterson, age 30, died at his home at Sixth and Deer Strs., Feb 13, 1892, survived by wife and four children; buried in Ashtabula, Ohio on Feb 16th."

This is interesting because we had originally had Laura Jane Patchen's father's name as Hiram. Could be possible link - perhaps Laura Evelyn Corrigan was recalling a family name?? Our Harmon would have been about 28 years old in 1850.
