There is a letter written by someone named Elizabeth on Jan 15, 1954 to Laura (Lex's 2nd wife) stating:

Dear Laura, Your letter arrived today. An immediate answer I think will be best to let you what I know now and what I plan to do. As for the definite dates I do not remember any, but if I go to City Hall I might be able to find them on record. I do know that Lex married Anna Thompson when he was 18 years old in one of these run-away marriages. A rough guess I'd say that would be in 1919 or 1920. It wasn't until his mother discovered Anna was expectig the baby that she learned about their marriage. The union was never a happy one. It must have been about two years after, that the divorce was granted in Philadelphia. Monica, Lex's daugther was burned to death when she was around 5 years old, due to a 4th of July sparkler which set her dress afire. It's a shame that Lex didn't take you into this confidence, it would make things so much easier for you. He was always very deep as long as we have known him. He believed what you didn't know wouldn't hurt you. A grand fellow and very much like his mother. I never heard of emphysema. I thought it might be some form of cancer when you wrote before. Just be glad that he didn't have to suffer longer. Whatever happened to Pop? Lex never said what caused his death. You konw soon after Mrs. D. died Pop wanted me to marry him. I could not see it, for he was as old as my father. Even so he always wrote to me regularly - after I married and after years later he married the land-lady from Attica. He hadn't written for awhile and then Lex sent us the word that he died. Well Laura I'll do what I can and let you know later. Sincerely, Elizabeth.
